Trump & Republicans Attacking Trans Healthcare
The Trump administration and Republican legislatures in Red States have been trying to take away healthcare services for transgender people.
An example of this is the administration's attempts to revoke all federal funding, including Medicare and Medicaid, from any hospital or provider that offered gender-affirming care for transgender youth.
Maryland bill HB 1399 would imprison a licensed health care practitioner for providing cross–sex hormone therapy for treating gender dysphoria, to a transgender youth (https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Legislation/Details/hb1399?ys=20…).
West Virginia bill HR6 would define transgederism as a mental disorder (https://www.wvlegislature.gov/Bill_Status/bills_text.cfm?billdoc=hr6%20…)
The Trump administration has also removed gender-affirming care from the health care services covered under the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) Program, affecting 8 million federal workers, their spouses, children, and dependents. This affects both adults and children.
The website Trans Legislation Tracker (https://translegislation.com/) has counted 762 anti-trans bills in 43 states have been introduced across the country. These legislation seeks to block trans people from receiving basic healthcare, education, legal recognition, and the right to publicly exist.
