The Difference Between Black and White Evangelicals on Donald Trump
The inspiration to this cartoon was a conversation I had a while back with an Asian American Christian friend. She told me: "Trump's political power comes from the overwhelming support of White Christian Evangelicals. If we want to fight Trump and Trumpism, we have no choice but to confront White Christian Nationalism."
A December 11, 2024 article by Bobby Ross Jr. for The Christian Chronicle (https://christianchronicle.org/in-presidential-election-many-christian-…) stated:
"The racial divide typically extends to the voting booth — and did so once again in the 2024 election, according to network exit polls.
White Christian voters helped propel Trump to victory, with 72 percent supporting him, polling found. Meanwhile, 85 percent of Black Christian voters backed Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee."
Several Christians who oppose Christian Nationalism have formed the group "Christians Against Christian Nationalism." They state in their website (https://www.christiansagainstchristiannationalism.org/learn-more):
"Christian nationalism is not the same as Christianity, and it can be defined and understood in a variety of ways. In this campaign, we define Christian nationalism as 'a political ideology that seeks to merge Christian and American identities, distorting both the Christian faith and America’s constitutional democracy'...
...At Christians Against Christian Nationalism, we believe Christians bear a special responsibility both to draw awareness to Christian nationalism’s gross distortion of the Christian faith and to work to explain its threat to democracy."

Thanks Jean for sharing my cartoons with your friends. I never know who looks at my cartoons or who it might influence. I hope your friends like my cartoons.
Angelo, you are absolutely right. Myself and other clear thinkers agree with your theory. Keep on educating the masses with your cartoons and detailed reasonings. I share your editorials with friends to help enlighten them. Thankfully some have come around. Little by little. At least its a start. Thank you again. :)
I think you're right Jean.
I think one of my big worries is that right wing Christian Nationalism has such a hold over much of the South and the rural areas, it makes it difficult to both get Democratic majorities in Congress and for moderate and sane conservative Republicans to regain any sort of voice within the GOP.
Trump's policies not only hurt our whole country and the world. His policies also hurt his own rural and working class supporters. But their loyalty to Trump has become a religious extremist cult that makes them blind to the consequences of Trump's craziness.
If they don't snap out of it, they're like lemmings running over a cliff. And they're taking the rest of us along with them.
Love the education and the perfect cartoon. But I think you are preaching to the choir. No pun intended. Your typical Christian, such as myself is for love of all, no matter our race or political beliefs. The right winged Christian Nationalism is so deep in the cult beliefs of Trump. I say if they continue to follow the idiocy of Trump, a new kind of Kool Aid will arise ( rev Jim Jones reference).
