The Other Genocides

It's important to focus on the genocide occurring in Gaza.

There are other areas where genocide is occurring that need the world's attention as well.

According to a January 7, 2025 article by Eve Sampson for the New York Times (https://www.nytimes.com/2025/01/07/world/africa/sudan-genocide-numbers…), the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan are perpetrating genocide against the Masalit people. Over the course of the past 2 years, the Rapid Support Forces have killed thousands during a campaign of ethnic cleansing, committed systemic rape and torture against Masalit women and girls, and around 25 million Sudanese face mass starvation.

According to an August 25, 2025 article by the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (https://refugees.org/rohingya-genocide-remembrance-day-eight-years-afte…), the Myanmar military junta and the Arakan Army are both committing acts of genocide against Rohingya community. The Rohingya community have been facing starvation, killings, torture, rape, and the burning of villages.

According to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (https://www.ushmm.org/genocide-prevention/countries/china/chinese-perse…), the Chinese government have imprisoned a million Uyghurs in detention camps. These detainees are forced to renounce their religion and some have reported experiencing torture and sexual violence. Women have been subject to enforced sterilization. China is suspected of imposing forced labor on Uyghurs in Xinjiang.
