Brain Drain

One of the major effects of Trump’s illegal and harmful deportations, ICE raids, and war on science is what’s known as brain drain. Many of the students who come here to study are now leaving, taking their education and ideas with them. The United States was once the top destination for the world’s brightest minds. We have world-class universities, and government-funded research made us a global leader in technology, innovation, and science. Now, fewer people want to come, and even those who aren’t being deported are being discouraged from coming at all. Instead, they’re choosing places like the EU, Canada, and China—countries that value and support research. Can you blame them? The worst part is that we won’t fully understand how much we’ve lost until decades from now.
