Though not as fashionable during the Regency period as fellow architect John Nash, Sir John Soane is best known for his neo-classical style and use of light. Soane's Regency-era buildings include the Dulwich Picture Gallery, the first publicly-accessible art museum in London. Soane was also an avid art collector, and upon his death, his house, which was designed to display his artworks and architectural artifacts during his lifetime, was preserved as a museum.
