X's Laws' Duality

Ben Gvir Calls to "Burn All of Lebanon" — X Flags It as a Violation but Leaves It Up

On June 20, 2026, Israel's far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir posted a tweet on X calling to "burn all of Lebanon" and "annihilate and crush" what he described as terrorism, following IDF losses in southern Lebanon after a Hezbollah ambush.

The platform did not delete the tweet. Instead, X placed a notice on it stating that the post violates the platform's rules, but that it would remain accessible because it is considered in the "public interest" — an exception typically reserved for content from political figures and government officials. A video documenting the tweet was published under the title "Twitter Censors Ben Gvir's Genocide Tweet," referring to the limited visibility measures applied.

The tweet sparked widespread reactions — international condemnation from the British Foreign Secretary, global media outlets describing it as "appalling," and a response from Iran's Foreign Minister.
