Is this going to be the thing that breaks MAGA’s ever-flexible loyalty to Trump? From what I’ve seen online—from the backlash of to people like Alex Jones and Charlie Kirk, commentators on Fox News, conservative radio hosts, from regular people in MAGA—I’m cautiously optimistic. That being said, I’ve said this is the thing that will break the spell Trump has on them a million times. And every time, Trump’s quote about being able to shoot somebody and not lose voters ends up being true.
Will this be the thing that breaks MAGA’s loyalty to Trump? Probably not. Just like when MAGA supporters who claimed to be anti-war backed Trump when he illegally attacked Iran, they’ll fall in line. They’ll probably blame someone like Pam Bondi, Dan Bongino, or Kash Patel, and move on. Cognitive dissonance is a bitch, and MAGA is deep in it. Whether they hold strong and finally hold Trump accountable remains to be seen.
