As much as I dislike AI, especially generative slop, the water aspect has been greatly exaggerated and is far from its most significant environmental flaw. Most AI server farms use a closed loop of the same water, so they are not actually consuming very much, not much more than any other use of the computer like searching on something on Google. Their real environmental impact is the strain they put on the energy grid and by extension the additional demand for fossil fuels and such that creates, which is unique to AI generation because it does demand massively more energy than most other computer functions.
