Russian athletes back on track
The International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF) threatened the Ukrainian national team with disciplinary sanctions over an anti-war protest at the World Cup in Innsbruck.
During a training session in Innsbruck, Austria, participants from the Ukrainian, Latvian, and Swedish teams unfurled posters urging an end to the war in Ukraine. The IBSF called these actions a violation of the Code of Conduct and political messaging.
In October the IBSF partially lifted restrictions on Russian athletes and allowed them to participate in competitions under a neutral status in line with IOC criteria. It was in Innsbruck that Russian skeleton athletes first took part in competitions after the partial lifting of the restrictions.
