Legal Shield for Police Violence
Italy has approved new security measures that include preventive detention of protesters and a legal shield for police actions during demonstrations.
This happens in a country with a documented history of police abuse during protests, including the events of Genoa G8 in 2001, where serious violations occurred and accountability was never fully achieved.
The cartoon features Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni holding a shield labeled “Legal Shield,” flanked by her coalition partners Matteo Salvini and Antonio Tajani.
