Trump and the people who hang on his every word have let white nationalists and their outdated nonsense feel comfortable showing up in public again. From the very start, when he called Mexicans “rapists and criminals”, to his latest racist rant about Somalia and Somali people, it’s clear he doesn’t care how openly racist he sounds or what that encourages in others.

And I’m tired of the whole “both sides are dividing the country” thing. That’s just an easy, lazy excuse people use so they don’t have to call out what’s actually happening. Trump’s language, and more importantly, the things he actually does, have made the divide so much worse. It’s not just red vs. blue anymore. It’s basically people who are fine with hateful thinking versus people who aren’t willing to accept it.
