Colonizers of the Caribbean
Colonizers of the Caribbean, swipes at the escalating US imperialism across the hemisphere. Specifically the Trump administration’s targeted extrajudicial killings of Venezuelan, Colombian and Trinidadian fishermen and sailors, claiming they are drug traffickers without a shred of evidence. The US continues to destabilize the region, as it attempts to overthrow the Chavisita government of Venezuela in its pursuit for its resources, as it possesses the largest known oil reserves in the world.
In the cartoon, the USS Gerald Ford, the largest aircraft carrier in the world, glides towards South America unleashing carnage as a trio of B52 bombers roar overhead. At the bow stands a defiant Trump flanked by Marco Rubio and the Department of War’s Pete Hegseth, screaming into his phone. The far-right, Venezuelan opposition figure, Maria Corina Machado is the ornamental figurehead of the vessel, proudly displaying her giant Nobel Peace Prize. She was awarded the prize in 2025, despite supporting armed insurrections and US military interventionism for years. Two enormous oil tankers loom on the horizon of the image.
In the foreground, a great red macaw soars across, a vibrantly symbolic bird of the tropics wielding the sword of the great anti-colonial liberator Simón Bolívar in its beak and clutching a banner proclaiming the collective fight and resistance to imperialism.
