PitchBiohazard: Freedom

Cartoon inspired by the speeches of dictators in the Middle East. Most of them are claiming the unrest in their country must be the result of a foreign conspiracy. Well, it seems this 'foreign' element has found a firm foothold.

PitchThe Tide Of War

Apparently, Obama gave a speech the other night about Afghanistan. Mind you, I haven't watched a single Obama speech since the '04 Democratic Convention keynote and the Inauguration. That was abuot all I could stand; since then, all I could handle was the occasional clip on TV, or transcripts posted on the Web. From all accounts, it was classic Obama, a rehash of the Iraq "withdrawal" announcement: out of all the reports I saw, two "money quotes" really stuck in my craw, and one of them was that "the tide of war is receding" -- and just in time for next year's election. Who'da thunk it?

PitchDon't Call Us – We'll Call You

Obama got elected by pandering to Progressives with talk about "fat cat" banksters, even as his campaign was being funded by Wall Street. Then, Obama spent the next two years alienating Progressives by pandering to the banksters. So, recently, Obama got together some of his Wall Street backers so he could shuffle for cash for his re-election campaign. Wall Street, of course, felt alienated by the anti-bankster rhetoric he dished out while pandering to the Progressives, so many '08 Wall Street donors weren't keen to donate to Obama's '12 campaign. Oh, well, Mr. Obama... that's show biz!

The crisis and the daunting perspective of new finanacial measures have mobilized Greece... So again, 2500 years after Pheidippides ran the 42 km from Marathon to bring word of victory, the Greeks are running, as fast and as far as they can, yet with no clear sense of where they are going or for what purpose.

PitchIreland and the EU/IMF bailout

Ireland has been trying to win a cut in the interest rate on its bailout loan from the EU - there has been some opposition form Germany and France. The impression is the new Irish Irish Prime Minister, Enda Kenny, tries to talk and appear tough in negotiations but no one pays too much attention to him...!

The "generational lightness of being" reference is something weird and enigmatic he said in a recent speech, which nobody understood..
