PitchThe Three Seasons

In Egypt, thousands fill Tahrir Square to protest a militaristic police state. In Greece, thousands have taken to the streets to protest harsh economic austerity measures benefiting bankers. Meanwhile, in the USA, the Patriot Act's been extended, and Obama wants to gut Social Security as part of a harsh austerity program -- and Americans are slobbed out on their fat, apathetic asses in front of the TV, falling asleep watching the latest news on Casey Anthony. . PitchBiohazard: Freedom

Cartoon inspired by the speeches of dictators in the Middle East. Most of them are claiming the unrest in their country must be the result of a foreign conspiracy. Well, it seems this 'foreign' element has found a firm foothold.

PitchGreek Economy Terminal

Greece 2011: the inmates have taken over the Asylum. Everyone flinging accusations against everyone else and abusive populism runs rampant. The train of the Greek economy, after circling round aimlessly for 30 years, is finally stopping due to imminent derailment only to be met with crowds of angry citizens all shouting and venting their frustrations, each and everyone of them convinced they know the solution (they just disagree on which is the problem per se) yet ablolutely no one has anything concrete, valid or helful to say, (and even if they do, nobody has time to listen anymore.)

PitchWHY ICC IS LOSING CREDIBILITY IN AFRICA

Allow me to play the devils advocate for a minute here, while it was great to hear the International criminal court has issued a warrant of arrest against Gaddafi, his son Aslam and a third individual, Justice would have seen to be done if the same zeal was applied in Myanmar, Bush sponsored war in Iraq, Killing of innocents in Gaza by Israel and Hamas, etc, the list is long. ICC may be doing the right thing but this doesn't feel just...

PitchThe Tide Of War

Apparently, Obama gave a speech the other night about Afghanistan. Mind you, I haven't watched a single Obama speech since the '04 Democratic Convention keynote and the Inauguration. That was abuot all I could stand; since then, all I could handle was the occasional clip on TV, or transcripts posted on the Web. From all accounts, it was classic Obama, a rehash of the Iraq "withdrawal" announcement: out of all the reports I saw, two "money quotes" really stuck in my craw, and one of them was that "the tide of war is receding" -- and just in time for next year's election. Who'da thunk it?

My other favorite "money quote" from Obama's Afghanistan speech, pandering to the USA's superiority complex: "Like generations before, we must embrace America's singular role in the course of human events..." Yeah, uh-huh... like in Vietnam... and Nicaragua... and Iraq...
