October 16th 2011 marked World Food Day. There are an estimated 925 million people hungry in the world, roughly 13.1% of the world population.
I meant Berlusconi was not fired by italian parliament neither by italian justice, but only by european pressures. Of course I'm happy that he is gone, anyway, but it is the defeat of italian politics and justice, I see no reason to celebrate it
Yes, I think its as humans we keep slipping into easy thinking that explains the other. Its actually I think the challenge for this century - more quality information rather than the more information, that's why I love this site as it has artists that live and know what they drawing about and not the "experts" we hear about. What do you mean Berlosconi wasn't kicked out? Surely he was forced out by different forces or is that the view since I read international media?
What could I say, Zuluboy84? You are right, it's quite like the vision that someone living outside Italy has about Italy itself. There are a lot of cartoons right here about Italy kicking off Berlusconi. It's not what happened. Then, bìnobody can have the right point of view about the whole world. Anyway, thank you for the suggestions
I joined specifically to comment on this cartoon. Though the cartoon is a good execution in my opinion is that it tells more about the western conception of africa then it does reality. An editorial cartoon in my mind is not just a pretty picture or stretching a metaphore "skin and bones" it explores the subject on a deeper level. In my view this cartoon just perpetuates that old (and still current) view of darkest africa and its denizens with no agency whatsoever
Thanks to all, it's great to be heredo not eat too much
a beautiful symbol for the daycompliments Fabio
Thank you Tjeerd
Still a striking statement. I didn't mind the text, but I think the visual is stronger now.
You've convinced me, I removed the text
