This special project is focused on the Millennium Development Goals (MDG's). In 2000, the United Nations set 8 development goals to be reached by 2015. The goals include ending hunger and poverty, ensuring universal education and creating a sustainable world.
In this project, the Cartoon Movement provides the platform for a collaboration between our global network of cartoonists and students from five high schools in the Netherlands. Together, they will come up with 100 cartoons offering different perspectives on development and development aid.
Within the broad scope of the MDG's, our primary focus is the the European Union, which is the largest donor to developing countries.
The following themes are of particular interest: environment and natural resources, water, energy, democracy & human rights and human development (education).
