The Rise In Antisemitism
The tragedy in Bondi Beach and the prominence of Nick Fuentes in the American Right points to a rise in antisemitism around the world, especially since Israel's war with Hamas began on October 7, 2023.
The prominence of White Nationalist figure Nick Fuentes points to a persistent problem in antisemitism in the Far Right.
During the Charlottesville White Nationalist rally in 2017, participants chanted "Jews will not replace us". Far Right groups like the Proud Boys espouse anti-Jewish rhetoric.
Because Christian Nationalism is an ideology of Christian domination in society, it is antagonistic against non-Christian minority groups like Jews and Muslims.
Radical traditionalist Catholics reject the Vatican II reforms, especially the 1965 document Nostra Aetate that improved the Catholic Church's relationship with Judaism, Islam and other religions. Trad Catholics maintain the belief that Jews are responsible for the death of Jesus, a teaching that Nostra Aetate and the wider Catholic Church rejects.
Antisemitism of more extremist members of the Left has risen during Israeli-Hamas war and the bombing of Gaza.
In Boulder, Colorado, for instance, a man firebombed a rally supporting the release of Israeli hostages held in Gaza, hurting 8 people. On May 21, 2025, 2 Israeli embassy employees were killed outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C.
In 2024, 33% of American Jews said they have been the personal target of antisemitism.
I personally oppose Benjamin Netanyahu's indiscriminate bombing and starving of the civilian population in Gaza. But opposing Netanyahu should not be equated with antisemitism, a mistake that the Trump administration has made.

Thank you Jean and Enrico.
Jean, I think you're right... the Trump is using antisemitism as a pretext to go after pro-Palestinian voices in the U.S.
One can be against antisemitism and support Palestinians at the same time.
Angelo, As always thanks for educating us. Very well said : " But opposing Netanyahu should not be equated with antisemitism, a mistake that the Trump administration has made." Unfortunately Trumps' followers can't see past the facts right in front of them and see there is a HUGE difference.
Good one.
