ICE has been lowering its hiring standards because they want to bring in new workers quickly. They are choosing to hire more people instead of focusing on hiring the best people. They even lowered the minimum age so teenagers can apply, and they are accepting more applicants who have trouble passing basic tests. Many new recruits cannot meet simple physical requirements or even pass open-book tests, but ICE keeps pushing to fill jobs. This isn’t surprising, because something similar happened after 9/11 when the government rushed to grow the Border Patrol.
