The KKKritic — Troll Tricks for Beginners

Did a cartoon once about some theory making the rounds and I plopped a tinfoil hat on the guy in the cartoon because the theory was nuts. So a letter to the editor comes in about how using a tinfoil hat in a cartoon was wrong, cliche, hack, cause of unplanned pregnancies and on and on. It got us laughing because nobody gets that worked up over a cartoon tinfoil hat. This guy was intent on invalidating a cartoon critiquing nutbars — because he was one of the nutbars. This is a cartoon about the tricks trolls use trying to undermine and invalidate the POVs of writers, painters, poets, cartoonists and activists everywhere. With cartooning, tropes are shorthand, essential in this visual medium. And any visual gambit is valid. Anyone who tells you different, they’ve got an agenda — and they’re likely wearing a tinfoil hat.

It's interesting watching some of the ham-handed comments attack other cartoonists. What THEY say/write/think is OK, but if another cartoonist has a different viewpoint, they go their comments section and trash them. How petty. Good cartoonists don't need to belittle other cartoonists - their work should stand for itself.
