Around the world, many right wing populist movements are fueled by a backlash against refugees. Most of these asylum seekers are escaping war and violence social unrest in their home countries.

Right wing populist parties stoke anti-immigrant sentiment to gain political power by encouraging negative stereotypes and attacks against immigrants. Many of these right wing populists tap into the fascist past in countries like Italy, Germany and Spain.

In many countries, a rise in anti-immigrant prejudice leads to a corresponding rise in Islamophobia, Antisemitism, and prejudice against vulnerable minority groups.
