Friendships of Americans of Differing Political Views
One of the great things that I’ve loved about America that I’m afraid is being lost in this more polarized age are the friendships of people of differing political views.
I think those friendships have been possible because of the nature of American democracy. American democracy is based on the idea that people who disagree can passionately debate the issues and being willing to compromise and find areas of common ground when the debate reaches an impasse. That allows friendships of people of differing views to take place.
